Be part of the National Wheelchair Rugby Tournament and Disability Sports Festival at the Edgar Centre. Whether you can help for a few hours or multiple days, you'll play a key role in creating a welcoming, inclusive event.

Description

Parafed Otago is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting people with physical disabilities to participate in sport and active recreation across Otago.

Join them in helping deliver an exciting national sporting event celebrating disability sport and inclusion - the National Wheelchair Rugby Tournament and Disability Sports Festival, taking place at the Edgar Centre from 25–27 September 2026.

Wheelchair Rugby provides players with the opportunity to play a fast paced, contact sport and engage in a meaningful community that they identify with.

Paris the SDO from ParaFed is also running a Disability festival alongside the Rugby Nationals that anyone is welcome to volunteer for or participate in

As a volunteer, you'll play an important role in ensuring the event runs smoothly. Tasks will vary depending on the day and your interests, and may include:

  • Assisting courtside during games and activities.

  • Welcoming and directing athletes, officials, and spectators.

  • Supporting event administration and registrations.

  • Assisting athletes and teams where required.

  • Helping with event setup and pack down.

  • General event support wherever needed.

This is a fantastic opportunity to experience disability sport, meet new people, support athletes from across New Zealand, and be part of an inclusive and welcoming event.
