Bring smiles to children in hospital! Radio Lollipop brings care, comfort, play, and entertainment to children in hospital. They're coming to Dunedin Hospital and are looking for volunteers to play games, make crafts, and brighten a child's day

Description

Radio Lollipop is an International children's charity providing care, comfort, play and entertainment to children in hospital. They are excited to be coming to Dunedin Hospital. They require volunteers to play games and make crafts with children.

Each Radio Lollipop Volunteer has a commitment to provide 3 hours per week of interactive play with children using a comprehensive range of fun interactive activities developed over the years by Radio Lollipop. Tuning in to the radio station broadcast from Christchurch is part of the armoury of activities in their "toy box" providing a unique child-orientated programme of interactive competitions, music, stories and games.

All of their work is in pairs so you are never on your own and full training/support is given. If this sounds like you they are holding a compulsory online Information Google Meet on Sunday 23rd August at 3pm. They will outline the role in greater detail, show you the great work they do and it gives you a chance to find out if this is for you. Once you have attended this session, they will send you the information about the application form.

This role contributes to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 - Good Health and Wellbeing.

Requirements

All volunteers:

  • The ability to meet the requirements to provide 3 hours of voluntary play each week.

  • Must be 18 years+

  • An enthusiastic, positive and outgoing personality.

  • An interest in playing with children/siblings and whānau in an interactive way.

  • An understanding of the benefits that constructive play can provide for a sick child and their siblings.

  • The ability to be a dependable team player.

  • An appreciation of the need to uphold the highest standards of ethics and integrity whilst within and outside a hospital.

Time commitment

  • Weekly for 3 hours - this can be on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday 5.30pm - 8.30pm (which includes setting up and packing up).
