Description

Situated on a sunny site in South Dunedin Enliven St Andrews Care Home is an aged care facility. Residents require hospital and/or resthome level care. There are 3 units each with 26 residents. We are a person centred organisation valuing individual needs.

Mealtime Assistants work alongside staff at all times. You will receive full orientation and training. Volunteers have the opportunity to gain an insight into older person's care, meet new people, establish new friendships. Experience a deeply satisfied feeling of having supported a resident by fostering and maintaining their independence.

Residents love chatting and having a laugh with volunteers who bring a little bit of the outside world in with them, making conversation about things happening in the community, places you have been, and things you have done or noticed. St Andrews is a hospital level aged care facility, consists of 3 units each with 26 residents.

Volunteers enjoy making a difference in somebody's life whilst developing their own interpersonal skills. Volunteers get the opportunity to gain an insight into older person's care, meet new people, establish new friendships and have fun.

Requirements

All volunteers:

• Need to have good balance, vision and hearing, able to walk around the home.

• Need to be 18 years and over.

• Will receive appropriate training and supervision for their role.

• Will be required to sign a Code of Conduct.

Time commitment

• 1-1.5 hours, weekly

• 12.15-1.30pm Monday to Sunday

• 5pm-6pm Monday to Sunday

Police check required as role is working with vulnerable adults
