Summary
Do you have a driver license and a little time to spare? Help older persons get to their local social club to enjoy activities including discussions, presentations from guest speakers, singing and music, craft, outings, cooking and meals.
Description
Club Enliven is for people over 65 years and offers a range of social activities including discussions, presentations, from guest speakers, singing and music, craft, outings, cooking and meals. Many of their members are no longer able to drive and rely on volunteer drivers to assist them to get to and from Club Enliven.
You can use your own vehicle or one provided (mileage reimbursed for volunteers using their own vehicle)
They are looking for friendly volunteers to drive up to three older persons to and from their homes to Club Enliven, in the morning and at the end of the day
Help to facilitate older persons social engagement and the meaningful activity that is essential to any healthy, happy life, no matter what your age
Volunteers can feel confident in knowing that they are helping to enable older persons to live an active social life and to develop and build new friendships.
Requirements
Volunteers can use one of the Club Enliven cars
Alternatively, if you have access to a legal roadworthy vehicle (WOF, REG & INSURED)
You will need a full clean driver's license
Additionally, volunteers should be friendly and reliable, have a caring and respectful attitude
Be happy to chat with older people - respecting privacy and confidentiality
Volunteers must be physically capable or assisting elderly people in and out of vehicles
Requires good mobility and enough strength and stability to support an adult's weight as they get in and out of a vehicle
Mileage reimbursed for volunteers that are using their own vehicle
Time commitment
One - two hours a week (or more if you have the time)
Volunteers are needed between 9:30-10:30am and 3-4pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Most urgently Tuesday mornings and afternoons as well as Wednesday mornings and Friday afternoons.
Commit to one or more shifts depending on your availability
