Dream South D Trust

Purpose

Dream South D project is a 5 year community led development initiative to deliver various community-led projects in South Dunedin. Their mission is to build on the South Dunedin community’s strengths and work together to get good stuff done!

Description

We’re excited to be hosting South D Skip Day on Saturday, 16 May at the 120 Victoria Road carpark (beside the Dunedin Ice Stadium). This event offers residents free skip bins to help reduce household rubbish, declutter, and support a cleaner neighbourhood.

We’re looking for 3–4 friendly and approachable volunteers to join us on the day.

Volunteer role:

• Help coordinate vehicles entering the car park and guide them safely to exits

• Assist residents with lifting rubbish when needed

• Communicate clearly with participants, answer questions, and help ensure only appropriate waste is disposed of (no hazardous, contaminated, or commercial waste)

Time commitment:

Arrive at 10:00 AM for setup, including cones, tent setup, and a safety briefing

Stay until 2:00 PM to help pack down at the end of the event

Requirements

• Good communication skills

• Confident and happy speaking with general public

• Friendly and approachable

• Physically fit and able to lift rubbish bags

• Happy to volunteer outdoors for up to 5 hours
