Dunedin Midwinter Carnival Trust

Description

The Dunedin Midwinter Carnival is back and bigger than ever and they need volunteers to help out!

Volunteering for the Carnival is not only fun, it allows you to meet new friends, build leadership skills, and be part of a truly unique event. It can also be a good way for those interested to become more involved as an art worker, production worker or trustee.

Festival Volunteers bring the Carnival to life by helping across a variety of fun and important roles during the two-day event. Positions include:

1. Brazier Keepers (monitoring fire braziers safely)

2. Ticketing Team / Front of House(selling and checking tickets)

3. Procession Guides(helping guide lantern processions)

4. Info Stand Volunteers(providing information to community members and guests)

5. Crowd Safety Team(managing crowd flow at entrances)

6. Night Market Helpers / Waste Warriors(keeping the Night Market tidy and vibrant)

7. Mulled Wine & Food Stall Volunteers(serving food, drinks, and managing the Cup Library)

8. Set-up and Pack-down Crew(helping install and dismantle the event infrastructure)

When

Carnival to be held: 27 to 28 June 2025. Volunteers are needed throughout May and June as well as on the days of the event.

• Festival Dates:Friday 27th & Saturday 28th June 2025 (with a weather backup of 4th & 5th July)

• Shift Time:5:00pm – approx. 9:30pm each night

• Volunteers must be available both nights.

Requirements

These roles are diverse and we have something to suit everyone who is keen to be involved in Dunedin’s premiere winter event for the public. No experience required but most roles must be filled by people 16 years or older.
